My highly anticipated Long Weekend of Relax no more liao! sadz... and Monday is rearing it'z ugly head again!!! And it's back to sch for NP people tomorrow. Damn I prefer going down to NP during their sch holidays. Less traffic along Clementi road, less human traffic to disturb training in a more peaceful environment. Well I cannot complain for long anyway. My own Course will start in a couple of weeks and shall not be coming back so often if at all already...........
Here's a brief look at the chalet:
As usual, there was tons of slacking and nua-ing around due to the "chalet-effect" where everyone will somehow loose a backbone or 2 and somehow develope an ability to niam to the wall or/and floor of the chalet refusing to move and loose the proprioceptive ability to perform anything other than speech and finger digit movements..... someone should wiki this down....
All that is fine except....if not nua then not chalet liao! Would be called a camp liao! hahah... But it still annoys me when so much time is spent on PSP and laptop games! If got chalet next time got to ban them all liao!! Maybe if there are multiplayer games then not that bad... but such devices only waste good interaction time. Which a chalet was originally intended for, correct me if I'm wrong. Kinda miss those times when there's no such stuff yet....people will actually think of group activities to do when there are pockets of time. Well perhaps this old man just too behind times liao! heh....
Ok peeves aside, I actually haven really enjoyed myself this much in a looong time. Really 10Q all who contributed no matter how small a part to this small event. Really paiseh that I was too occupied did not zao dai some of the seniors esp Jinzhou and Ling li that well.
1st Day(Thurs):
Arrived at E-Hub around noon and had trouble finding parking inside the MSCP. Damn there's only this little bit of lots for mcycles. Fortunately there's this friendly security that I spoke to who guided me to park at an unmarked slot. Shipei and Ilyana was the first 2 to arrive(not counting Marcus who's already at the arcade) All 4 of us proceeded to shop around first at the NTUC fairprice while waiting for Amin and Clarice. In the end, those 'frolicks' was 45 mins late! When they arrived we all thought Amin brought another small boy. That "small boy" was actually Clarice........diao...... Really paiseh ah.... hheheh.. not that it's a not a nice hairstyle... just that the sudden change was a bit dramatic and a while never see her liao since the Taiwan trip.
The downtown east area has really changed quite abit since the last period of time that I visited it frequently. Most of the shops have changed and not to mention the addition of the E-Hub. Someone asked me if the bright LED exterior decors could be kept up with the 21% rise in electricity bills. Well it is owned by NTUC so perhaps they dun even need to 'pay' the bills!
Our chalet unit D-8 was conveniently located just next to the bicycle rental shop and exit to pasir ris park/downtown east. We rented 8 bikes for the night cycling trip and decided to go for a spin at pasir ris park while awaiting Xin Yu to arrive. And with nothing better to do..they decided to practice their on-bike war cry:
The night cycling trip was not too bad, din even had trouble finding a halal restaurant for dinner. The paper thosai was the best I had eaten for a while! Extra crispy!
To walk off all that, did the overused chalet activity of bringing them for a short tour of OCH as well as the other abandoned building near fairy point chalet. Lucky for us it's a Thurs, or there will be tons of other chalet goers in there on a typical weekend. The govt latest effort to hamper tresspassers is a newly built gate at the vehicular A&E ground floor entrance. Very poor effort. While checking out the place for security, Derrick was up to his usual pian gina speech about what taboos there are while walking in such a place... Hah....The place did not change that much since I was last there. Brought them around and up to the top of the stairwell to enjoy the night view of the north-eastern coast of Singapore.

When coming down from the ladder, shipei managed to splash some drops of water from the flooded roof flooring onto my face! Argh!
Later, with some help from Marcus, managed to access a new area through the holes in the roof tiles. It was the engine room for the other elevator of the building that was nearer to the hill top entrance. At least there was some new treats for me in this old place!
Was tempted to meld into the shadows and grab someone's leg and see if this time there will be another super dramatic response as the other time at Bukit Brown with Joyce....But the place was too brightly lit with the moonlight that night.
After the second building, we decided to head back cos some of them buay tahan the late night liao... Too bad.. there were some other good places around the area.
On the way back I took a slight detour at the Loyang Tua Pek Kong Temple since Derrick's new easier cycling route passed by the place. Din see the need to jio the rest since almost all are Christians or Muslims anyway.
By the time I got back to the chalet after praying, they were all settled in already and nuawing to the tunes of Amin and Joshua's guitar. These 2 sang me a couple of songs (Your Call /Time of Your Life). Thanks guys. Yep I really had the time of my life!
Wah!! They started the ice cream without me while I was bathing!! Was like hearing my name being mentioned followed by laughter while in the bathroom....knew something sinister was going on.....but din know it was soooo evil!! O_O"
Fortunately I still manage to come out on time to have a taste of the ice cream which was recommended by GYM earlier. Not bad leh, I like dark chocolate.....which I am craving at this very minute!! Found none in the fridge... haiz.... stupid sorethroat... put myself on chocolate ban this whole week. Accidentally dripped abit of the ice cream on GYM's lap.....which I proceeded to smudge it more!! ahhahaha!!
Next up was movie marathon, watched a Thai horror (or more of a horrible)movie called the Unseeable.... should have taken the name as a warning already! Followed by Jiak Hong (Eating Air) which I mentioned in one of my earlier posts this yr. Watch until morning 6 plus! Not much survivor by then..... Shipei without a doubt...already concussed....Jimmy was down on the floor... Amin was rocking from side to side trying to keep awake since the first movie..... Xinyu already blacked out somewhere halfway through the Unseeable. Then too paiseh to wake her up so I kept my position until my legs cramped! Haahha....
All the while Joshua was sitting beside me playing Ilyana's PSP... Keep hearing the incessant clicking of the PSP's buttons throughout the 2 movies....He was playing the game DJ max...so had to rapidly keep hammering the buttons. Then tried to salvage some sleep but my coughing and the cold air mad ensure I had none of that....
2nd Day(fri):
Got up from my futile attempt at sleep at 1030 just in time to return the bikes. Simple job since the stall is just beside our unit. Proceeded to make peanut and butter sandwiches for the rest of them. Nuaw.... then we went a 2nd round of shopping for food and most importantly stock up ice cream! Lunch was instant noodle bought at Cheers..... Joshua protested cos he had been having instant noodles for the past 2 days..... protest overruled!!! Hahahahah.....
Finally got to try out the quirky playground at pasir ris park. My favourite giant spiderweb was gone. Had fond memories of it with the wushu seniors back in Jan 2003. I remembered racing up the web with Eric Ang who was high on Baron's Strong brew and kept doing random che kong fans on the way there.. heheh...
Most of the playground contraptions are meant for kids but who cares... we aint that heavy so let's relive our childhood!
Hang on if you can!!!
Long slide... if only the surface was more slippery! I keep getting stuck...... Dunno how GYM got her frictionless butt still can slide down the last portion!
Here's another slide we found that has less friction.....Ilyana's impression of a corpse on a conveyor belt.....
Clarice's turn for the inverted slide.....and crash....
Back when convection and microwave ovens were unavailable....man used all natural and manual methods to reheat their meat using heat from the sun and turntables to keep things even.....
It was an extremely hot afternoon. We din last too long in the heat....Esp running to push whoever was on the horizontal flying fox cable... heheh.. which was very fun by the way....
Lucky got Jianyang to help us with the water supply when he finally arrived! Thanks leh!
Evening dinner. The main event. Instead of having the run-o-the-mill BBq setup... I made the dinner getogether into an indoor cooking session using the hot plate cooker I got from my company's annual dinner 2 years back. The food was tasty.... less soot and chao dar compared to BBq... and more people can join in cooking. But it doesn't mean it's more healthy!! We were joined by more people in the evening: William and Derrick came back, Colin, Mark Lim, Dawn and Joyce. Jinzhou and Lingli along with their baby drop by too. Too bad Hannah(which we bombed with 13 smses in a shot) and Ivan din get to come..... :(
Xinyu and her new guitar teacher, JLYWQ.Really suai pose with the Guitar leh!
Learnt how to C...Ccc..cccc.... that night.....heh...
Together with marcus, on the way to the mrt to send xinyu off, we made a detour to get a few cerberus rynchops as a surprise for the rest later on. No luck that night, most of them must had a tip off or something... can hardly find them. Supposed to be filled with these snakes foraging for food at this time. But still managed to pull out 2 of them. The 2nd one bit me 3 times rapidly! The last time I caught around 20 of them and even though some of them resisted by swinging like a battery operated lasso from hell, none was agressive enuf to bite.... Fortunately the stinging sensation was as mild as the venom so I din mind.
The Bacardi Breezer bottle cap I tried to open for Marcus... ended up I broke the neck clean... well.. whatever works!! Skill leh!! Hah!
Marcus and Xinyu's apprehensive handling of the snakes.... Somehow Xinyu's colours was very similar to the new fren she's holding.....At White sands I asked an auntie where we could locate a floral shop, she pointed out that such a shop is directly behind me. So paiseh. But too bad it was closed. Most shops were by the time we arrived. So XinYu had to settle for other florist at Changi Airport I guess.
Back at the chalet, we tried to hide the snakes from the rest but the snakes kept crawling out of the plastic bag. There was once I was doing something with the bag in my hands... one of them crawl out till I'm face to snout with it and shocked me until i kicked over a glass bottle!
But too bad... when the rest finally saw the snakes, they were more happy then shocked..most prob they saw me holding it and therefore knew they were harmless.... should have slipped it in their pillows at night! hahaha....
I taught them how to handle them gently and they were very happy playing with these 2 new "pets". With the exception of Joyce... who daren't even come into the chalet until I released the snakes back to the swamp.
After this was the usual ice cream pigging session. This time with 2 pints of Ben and Jerry's Phish food and Chunky Monkey. Followed by another movie marathon of Kill Bill 1 & 2 till morning again.
3rd Day(Sat):
Never sleep much again but I never sleep at chalets anyway.
Woke up early to prep breakfast then realised there were some canned food we missed out last night. There were and a can of Mushroom, baby corn, and hot dogs. I bolied them all and added them to the Campbell instant soup (which I mixed in quite alot of butter. Better not waste!) The buttered mushroom soup was actually more aromatic! But you can hear your conscience and artery calling out to you with every tasty sip! There was also wasabi tuna, black pepper salmon and other spreads.... Very wholesome(heart clogging) breakfast!
After checkout, somehow I still felt restless. Shan't waste a good sat sleeping so I joined Jimmy out for present shopping. Fell asleep at a seat in Commonwealth, where Jimmy was staying(and where I grew up), while waiting for him to get changed. Had lunch at my fav Henry Chicken Rice which I took almost everyday during my secondary sch days. The family selling the chicken rice no longer recognise me already since I moved out from the area more than 10 yrs ago to Teck Whye and later to Depot.
Made trips to Anchorpt, Ikea, Art Fren, Spotlight, Daiso, Sim Lim Towers... Advised him on the material and gave him some ideas on how to make a nice little present. And in the evening, joined his fren Sam and another guy for dinner at Just Acia. Read about the place in Dawn's blog recent post. The food was not bad with unlimited Ice-cream and Drink refills! A little bit ex but was worth the price considering the location and ice cream! Will be going back next time. Also looked through the Jap Magazine which they just bought....Hmmm... maybe I might just consider a hairstyle change soon!....
