fb, blog, studies, portraits and cat(s)

Ok another post...... for on my tagboard Joyce already warned of arachnid fibres. Of cos there will be web... what do you think the "www" at the address bar stands for?

Finally gotten a facebook acct of my own after more than a yr of hounding from my various groups of friends. Yeah kinda late, until some people like yuhua and colin thought I've already sworn in to some occult group that is anti-fb...

1) can share photos...
2) just a random act
3) bored during term break ....
pick 2 outta 3 from above, permute it about and there u have the reason for succumbing.

Just went through the 3 conseq weekends of lectures for this new term. I seriously begin to doubt the point of attending the lectures already. Kinda like a cover backside excuse for EC* to say that they did their part in delivering the lectures. It kinda like pouring 10 litres of belgium chocolate fondue at a rate of 2litres/sec into ur mouth and expecting you to digest it all cos in another 5 mins time there will be another 10 litres.......yum. not. Then lecturers like M*ke Ne*ton will add extra strawberries, kiwifruit and waffles in along the way.
Not that I do not appreciate him giving us more details regarding exercise programming, it's just that we can hardly digest the notes already much less all the personal in-depth wisdom. It's something I would very much like to hear and would make great conversation topic pieces...assuming if I'm relaxing on a beach somewhere like...erm.. whateva.. you get the idea.

Ok cert count so far:
BCLS -got it
BEC- just got it
Aust Sports trainer- still awaiting results
Aust first aid- still awaiting results
FIC- Not sure when taking
Diving?- Def not this yr

In terms of career, there could be a drastic change in the coming months but I'm still not prepared for it yet. Unfortunately these changes are extremely negative to me in the short term and but beneficial(MAYBE) in the long run. Life's full of tough decisions but this is the path I decided upon a year ago.

Woa.. can't believe 2 highly anticipated outings and an assignment meet was canceled this week. With some giving better reasons than others. Whateva happened to the "word" nowadays? Seems like with hectic lifestyle+the advent of SMS. Simple things like an agreement that does not have financial/commercial value attached to them is as valid as those things you find abundant on P. Semakau. It seems I am over reacting here.. but of cos! I am pissed! Not only cos of this week but all the other kite flying for the past couple of years. Some wonder why I like to arrange last minute outings. Well one dun particularly need alot of juice to know the reason. Only some self reflection will do. What's the big deal? If this question is in your mind then obviously you never experienced reliable friends around you before.

Results are out for last sem. To think we are already almost 1/3 into the next sem already. Imagine if someone failed a module in the previous sem! And not to mention we are already almost halfway through the degree course and we stil have not received our student pass. Can someone just slap some effciency into these people?
No HD this time round. Missed it by a measly 1 mark for Spt psycho and by 2 marks in CNP. Why I missed the HD, I shall not post here, nor shall I complain. At least I learnt who NOT to partner with this term. Hah... Should have seen the scene yesterday night during assignment grouping. He was avoided like a leper! Avoided like the plague! Everywhere he turned, people would find some excuse to turn their face away!! Ended up with no group and being drafted together with strangers that had an incomplete group.
All I can say is: Bwahahahaha~..... ok.. I'm being abit bad.......abit..
So there is a hint of retribution in this world after all.

School's started, so sadly no time for filtering and editing the 375 photos during the portrait shoot outing. Sorry Amin, Xinyu and your photos are packed wayyyy at the back....... who asked ya to join only in the afternoon? Oh yeah mental note to self: never let your "models" stay for 2 nights outdoor at Ubin just b4 a photoshoot, unless you love to digitally smoothen out a bucket of sandfly bite for each pic.

2 samples edits out of a gazillion portraits yet to edit...

Seletar Sunset Grill after a weekend lecture. Seems like the place's business is improving quite a bit as more and more Singapore are able to find the place. Seletar Airbase area is now undergoing a dramatic makeover. Even the route going to sunset grill is slightly changed. And the few abandoned army camp and colonial and residential houses will not be there for much longer I suppose. Much to the disappointment of amateur photographers and startup urban explorers alike. The greatest change should be at west camp where the supposedly ulu section of Seletar Club Road (fav of nocturnal lovers for decades) is now not-that-ulu anymore. There is now also a major bridge linking to Pulau Punggol Barat and Pulau Ponggol Timur. These 2 islets are now being used as a sand depot for whateva development (prob IR) there is in Singapore. The place is something like Lor Halus where foreign sand is transported onshore by boat and transported away by incessitant lines of sandtrucks. Only difference is that the amount of sand and sandtruck over there is many times more than Lor Halus and Tampines HDB sand depot combined. Yet another sad discovery for nature enthusiast. Those 2 islet were relatively untouched and added a more "kampung-kelong" feel to the area.

On the way to Asian Civilisation Museum with classmates. Yet another impromptu outing suggested by me..heheh.... Was supposed to meet Sui An instead to look at the Steve McCurry photo exhibit but turned out he was too tired to go after his MO duties at Kranji Camp. Tiffany was very interested at the Afgan Girl portrait so ended up we psychoed Edmund to drive us there! hahahah!!

Construction (or destruction to me) work at the more forested end of Lor Halus.

It's always fun and relaxing to meet up with the bros once in a while. Dunno how I could have gotten through poly without them.

Candid but not so flattering shot of Andy on my(formerly his) FM2 + AIS 35mm f1.4 at Punggol Plaza Koufu after my SSC practical.

So he took revenge and shot a distorted image of me using his D700 + (newly acquired)AFS 14-24mm f2.8, which by the way is a fantastic lens.

Now that's better. Lens is so sharp that all the pores on my nose and stubs on my face, not mention my dark eye rings are vividly reproduced in this portrait! I look hagard... but you will too if you work all day, attend practical lesson at night and after that still gotta ride to punggol!!

Speaking of ACM, was jio-ed by Cat to go Art House on the 9th to see the Cats of the World (duh!)photo exhibit. But instead of taking bus, we will walk all the way from Biopolis! Or rather the Tanglin Halt carpark just behind Biopolis. Also a good chance for me to spam and tryout Ilford's panchromatic XP2. Damn...careless.. forgot to set the ISO on the FM2... was shooting at ISO 100 when the film is rated at 400! That's 2 stops, or 4 times the light, worth of difference! Fortunately the pics are still viewable.

Two lazy cats.

Construction of more HDB flats in one of the original HDB estate

Hah... along the way around Dawson/Strathmore area found some not-so-bouncy trampoline. In fact the impact on landing caused pain in my thoracic-lumbar region of my vertebrae, as well as Cat's worn out meniscus.

Former godowns by the riverfront.

My own contribution to the exhibition??

Victoria Concert Hall.

Security at Art House was "out the window" that day....

so along came a cat burgular!

First time see this place so deserted... Maybe all the undercover police that patrol this area scared them all away.
Yeah... I was harassed by a group of 30 of them for no apparent reason(they say is a routine show of police presence) at this very spot last month. Other than the fact that I was dressed shabbily and holding a DSLR. Remember kids..... When taking pics with a DSLR in public, you must look ang moh, or dressed like you can own a lamboghini or dear mr policeman will think you are a terrorist....

So there! cleared all spiderwebs liao!
