For the month of November I'll be attending the NCAP level one course every Tuesday and Thursday. Abit tiring but at least so far the lessons and presenters are interesting. Even so, I can began to appreciate those who go through years of part time studies in more dry and technical degrees while working. It must be hell to go through it esp those who went for 5 yrs part time studies!
It seems that we have ex national players in our class keeping a low profile....
Two friends I made, Chiew Boon and Adriel, was giggling as i approach them. Of cos, I gotta join in the fun. Eh, what's so funny? Adriel replied by writting 2 words on his book: BABE BEHIND
I turned back to have a look.
WAh..!!
They were refering to Liang RY! Yes, she is taking NCAP too! And her legendary(at least in the local wushu scene) bro WY is also with her! No prize for guessing the colour of her jacket...yet again... Such coincidence! I wonder what kept them from going for this course till now..esp WY.
Hahah... Was a small time fan of RY a few years back, esp her Qiang shu, which I was practising at that time too. She just does it with that bit more seh...whether it's a twist of the back or the flick of the wrist....She just can gek that seh... which is somehow neccessary in Wushu.
Watched a video showing how the athletes in China are chosen and trained since young. Some of the methods are kinda extreme in my opinion but I guess it produces results. The video also shows the gymnasts doing their stuff in Shi Sha Hai.... Too used to seeing that place filled with wushu practitioners so it's weird when you see gymnastic equipment all over the famous sports hall.
So far all the 3 different NCAP presenters come from different backgrounds, specialises in different sports, varied qualifications (but mind you, they are very very highly qualified), taught us different aspect of coaching. But they do have a similar view. That S*ngapore S*orts C*uncil is heading in the wrong direction. The 3 of them definitely are trying very hard to educate a new batch of sport trainers to have a wordly holistic view in the elite competitive sports arena that can somehow change the direction that our national sports body is driving at: A short cut that leads to a dead end.
I love this comment by an Indian entrepreneur after viewing our sports sch:
We are using 486s to produce 386s....
'nuff said.
