A simple review of the oh so legal(read:boring) <5mW Green Laser from Luckyduck.
Mind the lousy picture but they are what I can get in this limited time.

As you can see at the side of the switch there is a indicator LED to show that your laser is working but kinda redundant as you WILL know it's working considering it's like only 2 inches away from the output end! At least it's this bit different from the other laser I got from Cyril. Other than that, they are identical, even the box and Toshiba AAA batteries that they come in. All these <5mW greenies must have been manufactured by the same China mass production factory who accepts orders from different customers so the only difference will be the few nit-picky stuff here and there. Here's how the packaging look like:

Nice chrome finish but easily stained when you grab it with your oily and sweaty hands. Well not that we care. When you operate this little bugger no one will be staring at the bright green dot that is being projected.
And it does a wonderful job at that. Wayyy brighter than a red pointer and even the beam path is visible under dark and slightly dusty conditions. Not so with the red one which is also <5mW.
Highly recommended to be used in astronomy classes for pointing out which stars accurately in the sky. I remember how irritating a few years ago when someone tried to point (using the evergreen finger) out a certain star in the sky during astro club camp.....
"hey see that star?"
Huh? which one?
"that!"
which one?
"argh!!"
But do not have the misconception that the beam path can be easily seen. As mentioned: DARK and dusty conditions.
It will still satisfy those that are used to the conventional red ones.
The pointer is conveniently shaped and sized like a pen, which you can conveniently carry around in your shirt pocket without looking like a science gadget geek. The chrome coating, which I find quite durable ( but please do not scratch it with your knife like HA II or III), looks quite exquisite too.
Here's a comparison with my dear SF A2(5.6inches).

And finally, a beamshot. Left to right: Cyril's greenie, <5mW Greenie and <5mW red

The pic is a bit deceiving. Don't have a SLR to play with the shutter speed, ISO, or exposure so the red one seems way brighter then the <5mW green which is not the case.
And here's a pic of the beam path of Cyril's laser:

Kinda dim and actually looked like the <5mW one's instead. But I think you get the pic, the higher the power, the brighter it is.
And just for the record, I bought a MiniMag AA pouch to store the pointers. Fits and feels just right!!
