Got a day off from work last Monday as it seems that I have not taken a single day of leave for the past two yrs and there's a whole slew of off-in-lieu that i have not claim yet. Better use them before the company eats them up like NS days.
Been a eventful extended weekend holiday.
Sat was a historic fieldtrip with Miss Chan. Visiting The old Ford Factory at Bukit Timah, The Secret Tunnel at Labrador Park and Reflections at Bukit Chandu located in Kent Ridge Park. Always have liked history and pretty glad that Miz Chan enjoyed herself too. All the film shows, guided walks and exhibits were very well done. The particular animation done by NYP was VERY good! Kinda makes us think what the hell is NP doing!! There was even a very chio mei mei waitress at The Olive restaurant at Labrador. She even got Miz Chan's attention! Ok Whale and Duck, dun say never inform!!
Sat evening:
Went Urban Exploring with Winston and his fren who is a Law student at NUS! The irony of things... Haiz....It would have been funny if we were caught trespassing! The first trip was to the abandon factory where i had a encounter with illegal immigrants the other time. Fortunately this time, there was no one but us. Must have been scared off by us the first time round. Finally got the chance to fullly check the place out, including the roof tops.
Our second location was somewhere in pierce road where I was chased by a dog back in Sec 1. Somehow we wondered to the outskirts of a driving range where my ROP flashlight spotted a grey figure staring at us almost a hundred metres away. All of us know that it should not be supernatural but it still creep the hell out of us three grown men! Well, the only way to get rid of your fears is to face it. When we finally got in range to see what it was....kaoz...felt really lame...it was a Terracotta figure replica. What's worse was that we were spooked again by four life-sized stone lions inside another compound. What were these stuff doing here?Certainly very out of place!
Sunday:
A trip to Pulau Ubin!! Was damn excited to go back there especially a chance to visit Chek Jawa during the 1630 low tide. But on the boat ride there's I caught a glimpse of some construction work at CJ. I was reminded of the rumored boardwalk but thought nothing of it. Until the Nparks officers stopped at one of the Hut at the last junction to CJ. Had a good chat with the Npark people and found out that the construction works had begun and we were not to visit CJ anymore. Also saw this big group of Singaporeans consisting of mostly JC students pressurising the Nparks officers rudely into letting them enter CJ. WHAT A BUNCH OF KIDS! They were like whinning babies esp the leader whom I think she must have been close to 30 yrs old! Grow Up!!! Kinda pity the two Npark guys who were trying their best to maintain PR with the crowd of kiddies. In the end they got what they wanted....kinda...they were allowed on the shore to view the MAGNIFICENT...fiddler crabs....
Didn't even feel like going with them so we stayed back to chat withthe two officers instead.
My initial plan was to stay at murai hut but ended up setting my hammock at Mamam Beach as I heard that the super annoying 1000W Xenon lights were replaced with softer lights. Girl Brigade from Kranji Sec Sch got there first but we managed to share the place with them. At least they were quite a interesting crowd.
Din dare to venture into OBS land during our night cycling, dun fancy facing 20-30 wild boars charging after us! Led her to the secret garden sensory trail and both of us was mometarily shocked by the scarecrows(or scarefalconz) for a second....Sound sissy right? Why dun you try it out for yourself next time... My urban exploring instinct took over again and we end up at the boardwalk in front of the disused civil servant chalet. Not long after, the caretaker uncle saw us and came our way. Tried to drove us away cos we were trespassig but ended u chatting with him(a real angry-at-the-govt ah pek) and we were even invited to the abandoned chalet where he lived for a drink. The chalet waterfront is such a relaxing place to slack with the calm sea and planes taking off and landing as a scenic backdrop. Really enjoy siah! As he was a local there, he told us countless supernatural tales and warned us of certain places in Ubin where we should not go. The chalet we were in was no exception. Some of the stories really shooked Miz Chan up. But still it was a priviledge to be relaxing there! Must visit and look the ah pek up the next time around!!!
